Good News & Updates: February 10, 2022

1. It's time for the 11th Annual Souper Bowl! All are welcome to sample a variety of delicious soups this Sunday, February 13, directly after each service in Fellowship Hall. We will not be voting on our favorite soups this year, when we get a chance to gather and share warm soup on a cold day, everyone wins.

2. Shared Tables is kicking off this Wednesday, February 16. The Intentional Faith Development team decided for the month of February the meal will be a drive-through with hot dogs, coffee, and hot chocolate. People can come grab food and leave or they can tailgate in the parking lot. If you would like to help serve hot dogs and hot drinks please contact Pastor Tonya at tdavis@oldbthel.org. Donations of hot dogs & buns, cups or pouches of applesauce, individually wrapped bags of chips, coffee & creamer, and canisters of hot chocolate will be accepted through Tuesday, February 15.

3. Old Bethel is partnering with Pleasant Run & Liberty Park Elementary Schools for a Spring Break Backpack Drive February 28-March 11. Spring Break is right around the corner. Many of our neighborhood families rely on their school to provide food, snacks and activities for their children. School breaks are a challenging time for these families. Last year we filled drawstring backpacks with food and other items children could benefit from when school was out. We are doing this again! We are filling 100 backpacks; 50 for each school. Your donations of the items are needed: Food Items Pop top cans of Spaghettios/Ravioli, Microwavable Mac & Cheese, Granola Bars, Jello/Fruit Cups, Crackers (cheese or peanut butter filled). Activity Items for elementary students, things like: Small box of crayons & coloring books, Puzzles, Activity Books with pencils, Small craft kits, Deck of playing cards, Card games such as Uno, Snap, etc., Playdough, Bubbles, Sidewalk Chalk, Stickers, Silly Putty, and/or Fun Foam. We will assemble the backpacks the week of March 14. You may contact Community Life Minister Arin Schellenberg at aschellenberg@oldbethel.org with any questions and to volunteer to fill the backpacks.

4. March 2 is Ash Wednesday. Covid safe drive-thru ashes and blessings will be available under the portico from 6-6:45pm. In-person and live-streamed worship will be held at 7pm in the Sanctuary.
