Good News & Updates: February 24, 2022

1. Old Bethel is partnering with Pleasant Run & Liberty Park Elementary Schools for a Spring Break Backpack Drive February 28-March 11. Spring Break is right around the corner. Many of our neighborhood families rely on their school to provide food, snacks and activities for their children. School breaks are a challenging time for these families. Last year we filled drawstring backpacks with food and other items children could benefit from when school was out. We are doing this again! We are filling 100 backpacks; 50 for each school. Your donations of the items are needed: Food Items Pop top cans of Spaghettios/Ravioli, Microwavable Mac & Cheese, Granola Bars, Jello/Fruit Cups, Crackers (cheese or peanut butter filled). Activity Items forelementary students, things like: Small box of crayons & coloring books, Puzzles, Activity Books with pencils, Small craft kits, Deck of playing cards, Card games such as Uno, Snap, etc, Playdough, Bubbles, Sidewalk Chalk, Stickers, Silly Putty, and/or Fun Foam. We will assemble the backpacks the week of March 14. You may contact Community Life Minister Arin Schellenberg at with any questions and to volunteer to fill the backpacks.

2. March 2 is Ash Wednesday. Covid safe drive-thru ashes and blessings will be available under the portico from 6-6:45pm. In-person and live-streamed worship will be held at 7pm in the Sanctuary.

3. Sunday, March 6, is Centurion Cup Sunday. Bring your Centurion Cups to the altar. These donations go to the Angel Fund which provides one-time assistance to those in our community in crisis situations. To become an Old Bethel Centurion, contact Ric Gasaway at 317-894-1431.

4. The Administrative Staff is grateful to currently have all volunteer receptionist shifts filled. The service of these ladies and gentlemen make it possible for the staff to effectively attend to their responsibilities without constant interruption. We are still seeking individuals to serve as substitute receptionist when regular volunteers are ill or traveling. The morning shift is 9am-12:30pm. The afternoon shift is 12:30-4pm. The primary duties are to greet visitors and answer the phone. Subs serve on an as needed basis as their schedule allows. If interested, please contact Administrative Assistant Lynda Preston at 317-359-9651 or or the Volunteer Coordinator Sue Epps at 317-691-1195 or
