Good News & Updates: May 25, 2023

1. The annual United Women in Faith Rummage Sale is June 2 (9am-3pm) and June 3 (9am-1pm). As you do your spring cleaning around the house/garage/barn, please save items you no longer want or need: clothing, household items, tools, toys, small furniture, etc. If you’re thinning out the flower bed, we'll take those extra plants as well. Then bring them to the Fellowship Hall D on the following days and times only: May 30, 9am-3pm, May 31, 12-7pm and June 1, 9am-3pm. All proceeds support local missions. Contact Linda Brady at 317-847-9953 with any questions.

2. All are invited to a special screening of a new documentary film, The Working Hungry. It will be shown on June 11, in Fellowship Hall after ONE combined worship service at 10:30am. A free lunch will be provided. Following the viewing, there will be a discussion about food insecurity and hunger in our community and Indiana. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about food insecurity and learn about action steps we can take to help our neighbors.

3. Old Bethel is excited to partner with the IMPD to host the 3rd Annual Kids Bike Safety Day Saturday, June 17, from 10am-1pm. Several bikes and helmets are needed for this event. All children are invited to learn about staying safe on their bikes this summer. There will also be a bike obstacle course, a mountain bike course, a bounce house, and a free lunch. Please contact Arin Schellenberg at aschellenberg@oldbethel.org with any questions.

4. Meijer is helping the Old Bethel & Partners Food Pantry battle hunger through their Simply Give campaign. Please visit the Meijer store on East Washington Street between now and July 1, and purchase a $10 Simply Give donation card. Double Match day is Saturday. June 17. If you visit the store on this day and purchase a $10 Simply Give donation card, Meijer will donate an additional $20 - meaning your $10 donation will turn into $30! Thank you for helping the Old Bethel & Partners Food Pantry feed our community.

5. Vacation Bible School is July 17-22 from 9am-12pm. This year’s theme is Stellar: Shine Jesus’ Light (a return to the Group company curriculum with all the resources to make everything easy). Registration opens June 11. Crew leaders are much needed to walk children to each special station. This is an easy way to connect with our community. A few station leaders are also needed. Contact Children & Youth Ministries Coordinator Emily Archer at earcher@oldbethel.org to volunteer or find out more.
