Below are the sermon notes from Sunday's message, which you may listen to here.
November 10: Transformed by Grace
Opening Note: Vanessa Mae plays “Variations for One String” by Niccolo Paganini.
Sometimes we focus on the strings that dangle in our life, rather than play the one we have left.
Three intentional decisions that can allow God’s grace to move and transform me:
Decision 1: Change the way I think.
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
Romans 12:2a (NLT)
My attitude is an inward feeling expressed in an outward behavior.
Decision 2: Charge through my quitting points.
(This is when you’re down to only one string.)
It's easier to do what we want, rather than what God wants.
“I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us.” Philippians 3:13b-14 (Living)
Decision 3: Choose to focus on others.
“Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.” Philippians 2:4 (NCV)
(But, the world tells us to focus on me.)
I make a living by what I get, but I make a life by what I give.
