January 19: Just Walk Across the Room: The Single Greatest Gift
The incredibly important sharing my faith in Jesus is called evangelism.
The single greatest gift Christ-followers can give people around them is an introduction to God.
A Circle of Comfort is where it is safe and easy to relate.
The key is that when I feel a prompting from The Holy Spirit, I need to act on it.
I must leave my comfort zone, walk across the room, and enter the Zone of the Unknown.
We’re using the metaphor of a room, but what we’re really talking about is the whole sphere of your influence. And, the “walk” is doing whatever it takes to intentionally journey into someone else’s life for a God-purpose.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5 (TNIV)
"Salt" has flavor, but also needs proximity to affect anything.
God has already given me everything I need except willingness.
This Message series is about helping each of us become more aware of how the heart of God beats through us when we walk by faith and not by sight.
“Have the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human being, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!”
Philippians 2:5b-8 (TNIV)
Jesus walked across the cosmos so that I could be redeemed, and also see how it’s done.
(Remember to read John 4:1-42.)
This Message Series is based on the book Just Walk Across the Room, by Bill Hybels.
