The Old Bethel & Partners Food Pantry has fed the hungry as an act of Christian Faith for years. The effects of COVID-19 has more than doubled the need in our community, while forcing many of our faithful volunteers to stay home to remain healthy. God answered our prayers with the Indiana National Guard, who has been assigned to our pantry since March 24, working six days a week.
These young men and women have volunteered for this assignment, many because they lost their civilian jobs. Most are staying in hotels eating MREs (Meals Ready to Eat/aka field rations) and for those without transportation it is difficult to find a place to eat or get groceries.
Our mission to feed our neighbors extended to feeding these soldiers. We thank all who so generously donated snacks, meals, and money in recent weeks. May 17 we learned the National Guard's service at the Food Pantry has been extended to June 24. We need another small round of specific snacks listed below.
Specific items needed include:
Cookies (single serving/snack size)
Sports Drinks (Gatorade, Powerade, Propel, etc.)
Items may be delivered to the church June 1-5, between the hours of 9am to 3pm OR order on-line with delivery directly to the church OR you make a monetary donation, marking it “Helping the Helpers”.
